Volume pedals
Anybody remember the old days when we used to pour lighter fluid in to the pots on the volume pedal to stop the noise and the scratchy sounds. A flash from the past.

Hi Ken,
Here's a short volume pedal story. My very first volume pedal was a DeArmond. Unlike most volume pedals of today, it had nylon gears instead of today's string, spring,& pulley system. After I had used the pedal for quite some time, the "pot" began to wear out (as they all do),and get that "scratchy" sound. Some one told me to use some "control cleaner" on the pot, so, I sprayed everything real good. What no one seemed to know was that some "control cleaners" react chemically with some forms of Nylon. No, it didn't blow up,but the Nylon gears hardened and shattered the next time I used the pedal. So...if any of you own a Nylon-geared pedal, just buy another pot,or better yet, buy a different pedal!
