I remember Bill Boyd & Gene Weed and many others who said " Toby Keith " would never make it BIG in the Music Business.Little over 20 years later an,guess what? That is definitely standard when used of persons.

It's just a song....entertainment. Not everything has to be an earth shattering political statement or profound comment on the human condition.
You can find many examples of improper grammar in song lyrics and literary works if you dig around.
I like Toby just fine. Listen to A Woman's Touch. A fine song and some great pedal steel on that one too. It might be DD, I don't know.
