Hi Everyone,

I have one of Wilmer McCormick's steels it is 24 1/2 scale with an E66 pickup on it. He also builds 22 inch scale steels or whatever you want.

The Wilmer Steel I own was made out of a an old piece of maple from the Florida bayous and is an excellent sounding and playing steel guitar.

If you would like to hear it. I recorded 2 CDs on it titled "Steel Guitar Jubilee" and an all Gospel CD titled "Upon An Instrument of 10 Strings."

Reece Anderson wrote the liner notes for my "Steel Guitar Jubilee" CD cut on the custom made Wilmer.

Wilmer is a nephew of Pappy Neal McCormick a musician friend and promoter of Hank Williams Sr.
Also Wilmer knew Don Helms, Ernest Tubb and a bunch of the old time steel players and Grand Ole Opry people.

Wilmer is a great guy and builds very nice sounding Steel Guitars. He builds 6, 8 and 10 string non pedal steels and the cases for them.

Looks like the 12th fret is half way between the nut and bridge, so that would be accurate in my book.

This particular steel is now at my house in Missouri and I have been playing it. It is a great sounding steel!

Also Wilmer has other steels: these are 6, 8, 10 string nn pedal steels madeof hardwoodssuch asmaple, oak, walnut, etc.

I think it's an illusion due to the wide board under the fretboard - I could be wrong

Yes, I think you are! The fret lines don't even look parallel, they look like they have been randomly drawn with a marker pen...
