Well............Apparently there is no Weissenborn forum. So.... I would guess this is the best place to start. There is a dirth of places locally to sample these instruments so I will be forced to purchase on line (Ugh!). I have read reviews on a bunch of these. Don't want to break the bank-let's say less than $900. What do all you experts think is the best bang for the buck?
Thanks, Mike

You might be able to get into a solid mahogany Gold Tone for pretty close to your target price. They are definitely worth looking at - I was impressed by one I saw in a store awhile back. I do have one the the solid mahogany George Boards instruments kicking around and it certainly will get you started.
There are some Weissenborn enthusiasts on www.resohangout.com, and there are even a couple of dedicated Weissenborn groups on there.

One of these days I want to get a Weissenborn ... I have seen some videos and that woody/acoustic tone really resonates with me ... there is a guy in close proximity to where I live that makes them:

Now I just have to figure out how to finance this plan ... I may be putting one of my electric guitars up for sale ... hmmmm ...
