Just curious. Since moving to a Justice are the DH/Rains days over with? I'll have a new Justice in the future, just needed to change my plans for one to a later date down the road but it's coming.

See, this is what I mean...everything lined up so accurately...the shaft blocks all in line..no twist..pull rods neat and straight...The nicely machined endplate extension where it meets the rail...how the flat head screws are countersunk exactly even with the surface. These things are insignificant on their own but add up to an over all picture of quality and sense for detail. This is part of what the experts call the "sum of the guitar's parts".

Builders can learn from this workmanship. I know that I am paying close attention!

Fred, what is the purpose of the set screw on top of the cross shaft block? Is it there just to make sure the bushing doesn't start turning?

Bent those set screws allow you to adjust the slack in the cross shafts.
Climates differ in a big way in certain parts of the country, calling for a way to adjust the slack in the cross shaft.
Bent I'm not the best at explaining things, I hope it was sufficient.

In the picture it looks like the edge of the end plate has deep scaring damage, or is it just a reflection?
Also, David does this spell the demise of the Hartly Rains?

TB the end plates are so highly polished to a marrow finish they reflect everything.
I assure you there is not a blemish on them anywhere.

Peter in deed that is a temper compensator to lower the 7th string about 7 or 8 cents when using A&B.

I've used it for years and ask David to try it.
As you may know, the 7th string is the evil two faced villain on any E9th tuning.
I like to hear the 7th string in tune open, but I want it in tune with A&B down using the 7th string in chords.
On any E9th tuning, if you tune the 7th string open using 5,6 and 8, it will surely be out of tune with A&B down using 5,6,and 8, unless you drop the 7th several cents. I hope I explained that well enough to understand.
