Well, it's been a very long time coming but I've finally started work on an all-jazz CD. The first session is this coming Monday, and I have the great privilege of working with some of Philly's top jazzers, including Steve Beskrone on upright bass (has worked with Pat Martino, among many others), Frank Strauss on keys (worked last 10 years as music director for Tom Jones), and Grant MacAvoy on drums (first-call drummer for Buddy Emmons for many Craig Baker shows in Pennsylvania back in the 80's). Also have some incredible players lined up to do guest-spots on the album; I only hope I can keep up with these guys!

Tunes planned include:

I'll Remember April
My Little Suede Shoes
Have You Met Miss Jones?
The Nearness of You
Manha de Carnaval (Black Orpheus)
Lush Life
Far Wes
Fly Me to the Moon
Jimbeaux's Blues

Don't think it'll be out in time for ISGC but should be out by PSGA in November for sure. Will keep ya posted; we might need to have another CD Title contest! Wink

Congratulations on your decision to do this project. I have no doubts about how this will turn out, and I certainly be in the line to get a copy. I've heard any number of these done by you at shows and loved them.
My best wishes for your success, see you at ISGC.

Thanks, guys. We had a great first day in the studio today. Lots more work to do!

Here's the gang, from left, Frank Strauss (keys), Steve Beskrone (upright bass), me, Grant MacAvoy (drums). Can't wait for the next session!

Good luck Jim. I'm sure you'll nail it. Good move getting some heavy cats. We can't underestimate what a difference good players make.
