As a newbie, I wonder what you use to hold your bars and picks, and also what model tuner do you use. I am looking for solutions for both!

For a tuner, I use the Cleartune app on my smartphone. It's available on both android and iphone.
On my Zum D-10, I put the bar on strings 5&6 in the keyhead (closed keyheads) and picks between the necks.
On my U-12 with open keyhead, I use a pick and bar pouch from Sharp covers.

+1 for Crown Royal. 
I keep two of them, one for harps n mics, the other for picks, slides, tonebars and tuning wrench. They're readily available at most any liquor store and come with a nice bottle of blended Canadian whiskey inside.
This elixir can also make tuning the guitar easier. 
For that I use a Boss TU-2 with floor pedals, or a Korg DT-1 Pro in a rack.

| The handiest item that I have seen for that purpose is the 'Slydecar' I believe it is named. These are manufactured by Forum member Dale Hansen ('Bessdang Gizmos'), will hold two bars, picks, and tuning wrench, and mount neatly between the legs of your steel...As for tuners, many prefer 'Petersen' due to their accuracy and the steel guitar presets. |

Mini M&Ms tube fits most standard size bars perfectly. Sturdy, cap holds the bar in, and tasty too. Plastic won't risk bar dings on your guitar.
I either wear my picks between sets (if they feel right, I don't want to mess with them) or lay them gently on the deck behind the key head, on the amp, or wherever is handy.

| I use a leather pouch I bought from a tobacco shop for my bar and picks. It's used for pipe tobacco. I use the basic Sabine tuner. |

I've never in all of these years EVER used a tuner.
I tune with the "E" string, the top one, that is, of the lead guitar player or the "E" note above middle "C" on the piano or accordian, whichever is the dominant instrument in the group.
If you're not in tune, you're out. |

I tune one string with a reference, and then tune everything else by ear.
As far as "small stufff", I just throw everything into a plastic box, an old pistol cleaning kit container, actually. When it's time to play, I select a bar, a couple finger picks, a tuning wrench, and 3 or 4 thumb picks, and place them all between the necks (or in the keyhead of a single neck). I'm not real fussy about this, and it doesn't harm the steel if you're careful.
Here's my box containing 400-500 assorted "things" that resides in my seat (or in an old duckpin bowling bag at times, along with pedal, cords and strings).
I'm not a fan of "hanging things on my guitar". I think it looks cheap and tacky, but that's just me!

Peterson strobflip. You can get Quiksix at Steel guitar Nashville, with the drink holder and with out it.It also holds your tuneing wrench. I have had mine for sbout 9 yrs.
