Help in Greenville, SC

Post by Bob Kononiuk »

Hello everyone, I just received my first steel guitar today (a sho-bud LDG) and was wondering if there was anyone near me that would be willing to help me set this thing up properly. The person I bought it from was nice enough to tune it for me before sending it, but I would still like to get some hands on training on how to properly set-up the pedals and make adjustments to it.

I would also like to hear someone play this thing so that I can hear what this wonderful looking guitar is capable of.

BTW, does anyone have any tips on removing the smoke smell it has?

I appreciate any help possible. Take care and God bless

Bob,
welcome to the steelworld! Image
I think you can find a lot of info on the carter website www.steelguitar.com
What also helps a lot, is buying the old "bible"of pedalsteel, the WinnieWinston book. I don't have a clue where you can purchase one,but other forumites will , I'm shure Image
Cya, and good luck with it.

Hi Bob---Why don't you bring your guitar over to Saluda on Sunday? There will be a lot of great pickers and good people there that will give you any help you want or need. Everyone there is just like one big happy family. Come on over and you will see what I mean. Hope to see you there.

I'm 52 and have played guitar (off and on) since the early Sixties. I just bought my first pedal steel (an old Sho-Bud Pro III) a couple of months ago.

The Winnie Winston book (with CD) is available from Scotty's. The web address is:
www.scottysmusic.com

BTW, Scotty, Dewitt, Don and Mike are a great bunch to do business with! Don is the guy who brought the old Sho-Bud back from the dead (he even took pics to prove how BAD it was when he started). I only hope to be able to make it sound the way it did when he demo-ed it for me when I picked it up!

Bob, I'm having trouble reaching you via e-mail. E-mail me, I'll give you Charles Reece's phone#. He's a great setup guy, super player, and a friend to us all. He'll be at Saluda, for sure(wish I didn't have to work!)and he knows the old Sho-Buds like nobody's business! Holler at me!
