Roy Ayres has gone Home

Post by Laurie Ayres »

It's with a broken and heavy heart that I have to tell you God saw fit to take Roy home at 8:15 pm last night.

It's still don't seem real but his suffering is over and mine....just beginning. I think my heart is going to break.

Of coarse I haven't gotten the arrangement made yet and when I do I will let you know.

Please pray for my strength to face the days ahead with out my soul mate, husband, lover, and best friend and our family.

I know he's with Jesus and he, John Huey, Herby Wallace and the rest are having a good time...playing together for their Savior.

We want to thank everyone for all their prayers, phone calls and love.

From my heart to yours,
Laurie

Just know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

What can I say? Roy and Laurie are two of the nicest people I have ever met. I cherish all the short moments I was able to spend with them, Roy's introduction in the SGHOF and the few times I heard him play.

Laurie, I am sending my love and prayers to you and the family...and Roy, thanks that I had a chance to meet you and know you.

Roy was one of my favorite players from the first time I heard him, long before I knew his name. His pitch-perfect sound with Pee Wee King was one of my earliest inspirations on the instrument. Much later he became my friend, and I came to know the honest goodness of the man.

I'm so sorry to hear that he's left us. My condolences to Laurie, the love of his life.

I sent Roy the last original copy of Pushin' Pedals that I had. Years later, he called and told me it belonged with my family. I asked him to send it to my grandson Caleb and he did that. He was perfect in pitch and in personnal attributes. I was one of the many young ones who heard and knew him by his musical touch before we knew him in person. That says a lot about a musician. God speed Roy ! You are in the best of Hands !! God Bless you Laurie for being there and keeping us up to date...

Regards, Paul
