I knew that Tim Hardin spent some time in England, where he recorded two albums.
In this show his "Misty Roses" is just to good not to share with you:

I was a big Tim Hardin fan back in the day and used to go see him in Greenwich Village until the tie when he was so wasted that he slurred every lyric and fell down on stage. It was embarrassing (at least for me who had brought relatives from Europe to see this 'wonderful singer' perform).
I have fooled around with playing Misty Roses on steel guitar; it has very nice changes.
Many people might not know that Hardin also wrote, "If I Were a Carpenter". _________________ www.JimCohen.com

This is the first time I watched him play the guitar, I was surprised that he used a thump- and fingerpicks. I'm not the greatest guitarist, but I was lucky that I could find the chord changes to this song so easily.
I agree that it would sound nice on steel.
Jim, it's sad story that you told. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

Here's a nice song by Bobby Darin, written by Bonner and Gordon, that fits well into that aera:

He looks and sings like he's wasted in that video too.
Are you sure he didn't write "Breathless"? |

Combining my own judgements with facts I read about Tim, here are my thoughts:
First: He was adicted to some kind of heavy drug, which was subscribed after an operation and he stuck with it.
Second: He suffered from the first album (here: first two albums) syndrome. His songs weren't chart material anymore.
Third: he had a writer's block: on the last two albums he recorded in England, there were mostly covers.
He's still one of the greatest singers for me. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

The Youngbloods (Jesse Colin Young) did a fantastic version of Misty Roses that is more melodically coherent. |

Yes, it's on their "Rock Festival" record. I still have it.
