Why don't you ask Keith. He has always answered my questions. Try Going to the Hilton Electronics Website, find the "contact" link, and ask away. JV |

Steve, I did not get any e-mail from you. Who told you I had a "Newest" volume pedal? Where did you hear this and from whom? Steve, hear is the real story from the "horse's mounth". 16 years ago I started building volume pedals. The circuit--the part that makes the sound---has not changed in 16 years. When I first started building volume pedals, the metal enclosure was made of cast aluminum. I used cast aluminum until January of 2007. As of January 2007 I changed from cast metal to sheet metal bent and formed. The only other thing that has changed has been how the pedals were powered. For a short time, when I first started, pedals were powered with a 12 volt DC power supply that plugged into the pedal. For many years after those first few pedals, I used a medical grade power supply that was attached to the pedal. In 2009 I went from the attached power supply to a new type power supply that was not attached.
The attached power supply was a transformer based power supply, and the power supply used after 2009 is a switching type power supply.
All of my pedals have always run from 24 volts DC. Even in the beginning when using the 12 volt power supply, my pedals still run from 24 volts DC. Why, because I had a DC to DC converter that boosted the 12 votls to 24 volts. So, there has really been no "NEWEST" Hilton pedals. The part that makes the sound, and changes the volume, has always been the same. The only things that have changed over the years is the metal enclosure, and the power supply. Hope this information helps. |

Keith, I've met others who thought that each case or power supply marked a model change, despite information freely available that case or power supply were the only changes. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Yes, I know Lane. As any story goes from one person to another, soon the complete story changes. |

Keith, I might mention that you have added a red LED power indicator light on the side of the pedal. I think this is a good thing. I think I am the oldest active Hilton dealer, by that I don't mean age but have been a Hilton dealer longer than any one who is still a dealer. Am I correct Keith? I am very happy to represent such a great product. Same pedal at the same price all these years!

Yes, Jerry, you were one of my first dealers. You are correct about the power light. I added the red power light in either January of 2010 or 2011. It is really a good feature, because it lets the user know if the pedal is getting power. Jerry, you brought up something interesting: "Same product at the same price all these years." I have been tempted to raise prices many times. Many people have told me I need to raise prices. Instead of raising prices, I have tried to become a smarter buyer of parts. I have also tried to run a more efficent production line. I have over 19,000 pedals out in use world wide. |

Keith
Sorry for the wrong info.
I was the one who assumed it was a New model for the reason that the light had been added on the side and there where only two controls on the bottom of the pedal instead of 3 like some of your older pedals.
So by those changes being made it looked like a New model to me. The reason I didn't e-mail you was that we had an unexpected illness to come about in our family and that was more important than my question about the pedal at the time.
