Beware of this seller - ALL NEWBEES

Post by Hans Penner »

Should you receive an email, as shown below, from Ron ! (ie. Karen and Ron !) DO NOT RESPOND, DO NOT BUY!!!

Hans, I noticed on the forum that you are a beginner (newbee) on the steel guitar and was wondering if you were in need of some instructional material. I have a course by Joe Wright (left hand technique) and a couple Newman courses (PDF format).
I also have 1200 backing tracks available that are the best of the best.
The tracks are not BIAB or midi files but the real deal.

I can sell you the Joe Wright course, Newman courses + the backing tracks for $50 (shipped to your door). Let me know if you have interest in this or in a part of what I just offered to you.

Let me know if you have interest in any of this.

Warmest regards,

Ron

P.S

Payment through PayPal preferred. If you ,like to discuss this over the phone, just send me your phone number. I have unlimited calling world wide.

If you talk to him he is very pleasant. He'll admit he's not a forum member anymore. (His membership was revoked by B0B.) He'll tell you he's only disposing of everything he had because of some illness that no longer allows him to play pedal steel. He is very persuasive with his story.

If you purchase what he's offering you WILL be disappointed. I was. What you get is of very poor quality and everything he is selling is really not his to resell. In my case I thought the backing tracks would be nice to have. I already have a bunch of stuff by Joe Wright and Jeff Newman.

Also, you shortly thereafter get an email asking if you'll go to the forum member list and supply him with another "Newbees" email address. It was when I received this email request that I realized I'd probably just been scammed.

My money has been spent, UNWISELY.

Please don't you also spend your money foolishly.

A permanent solution needed

Post by Hans Penner »

Wonder if it would be possible to have a permanent post on the Index page that would allow people to be made aware of these kinds of scammers?

He tried to scam me too. I steered clear of him, but I'm sure he's hit lots of people.

The biggest defense you have giants scams from non-forum members is to NEVER POST YOUR EMAIL OR PHONE NUMBER ON THE FORUM. Members are able to contact you via personal message or the email button, so no need to post your personal info anyway!

My email address

Post by Hans Penner »

Marc, I have not made my email address available anywhere on the forum.
He contacted me because a forum member supplied him with my email address.
He also wanted me to "go to the forum member list and supply him with another "Newbees" email address."
That's how he does it.
I think I will just re-post this message from time to time.

This should be made a "sticky" and required reading for all members.

This IS the reason why no member should ever post their email address, as it can be harvested by crooks such as the scumbag Ron !.

To be fair and present another side, I too have dealt with Ron.. Bought an MSA off him, drove the 6 hours out to his place, tried the guitar before I bought, and took it home.. everything went just fine.

I didn't keep the guitar as it wasn't "me", but it was in immaculate shape....

Got much of money my back in a cash/trade deal.
I can't comment on anyone else's experiences, but mine were ok.... Just trying to be fair here... bob
I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

no gear list for me.. you don't have the time......

There were very good reasons why b0b revoked his membership here after many complaints about his dealings.

I also have 1200 backing tracks available that are the best of the best.
Just out of curiosity, who were the musicians on all these tracks?

Bewear of this seller...all Newbies

Post by George Kimery »

Within the last few days, I got an e-mail from Ron saying that he was sorry that he had been out of touch with me for a while, like he was a close friend. I e-mailed him back and asked his last name, because the only Ron that I could think of was Ron Elliot, and although I have met Ron Elliot, he certainly is not a close friend and does not know me. He told me that his last name was in his e-mail address. I e-mailed him back and told him that I had medical expenses right now and could not afford to buy anything. I had to ask the price he was asking for all those courses, CD;s, and tracks. The way his e-mail read, it sounded like he was just going to give them to me for free. He offered to hold them for me instead of selling to somebody else. All this from a guy that I have never heard of. I e-mailed him back and told him that I would have to pass on the deal and for him to go ahead and sell them to somebody else. In my mind, I questioned whether he was selling the originals, which he had the right to do, or if he was making copies and selling them, which he has no right to do. Apparently, he is just going through the forum and sending out feeler's to anybody that he can sell copies to. At least, that is the way it appears to me at this point. Perhaps I am wrong, and if so, I apologize to Ron.

Well....I suppose it's nice to see 2 or 3 people who didnt get scammed when dealing with him or are happy with the pirated karaoke discs. He has somehow managed to sell his only copy quite a few times.

But isnt it a little like a convicted rapist having a couple women standing up and saying "he didnt rape me"?

He has also had "a" copy of Lloyd and Tommy's concert vid up for sale on youtube for the last 3 years or so. Nobody must have sent him an email about it or maybe............

Those who were victims of his, " soliciting parts to build steel guitars for deserving kids" scam (myself included), are fully aware of the reasons why he no longer has Forum priveledges!

I received an email from Ron on June 6th.
His opening statement was "It appears strange and weird to me that you post things on the forum about me without even contacting me first."
I immediately replied with a copy of the email I'd originally sent him on May 21st asking for a refund.
He responded later that same day but did not offer to refund my money.
He was most unhappy that this post had been viewed over 2,000 times.
I am now of the firm opinion that my $60 is gone for good.
Consumer beware!

Well, Vic, I guess I will have to continue to bumping this post to the top.
He is selling Joe Wright and Jeff Newman materials along with his backing tracks.
As for you, Nicholas, you were wiser than I was.
I hope this post helps others to be wise like you and say, "NO" to this scammer.

Marc, Ron did not send the PM.
A forum member did this at the request of Ron !.
He is a smooth scammer.
