Any reason why they're not offered by any steel companies these days? It sure would be a nice option instead of the typical mica.
Some of the old lap steels used to be mother of pearl.

I have often thought the same thing about pearls.
btw, does anyone know where you could buy pearl stock sheets that would be long enough to re-cover a pedal steel?
Any of the pickguard sheets I have found online would not be long enough to do a seamless job.
thanks,
bob

WOW....I stand corrected! They look outrageous! You sure don't see them that often though...at least I haven't.
By the way, the samples I posted are from this website
I recovered my old drums with their stuff years ago.

Is the black mica pearl as dramatic as the green?

This one is still being built. After we polish the clear coat it will glow.

Nice job Mike, but that green one would probably get me fired, because everybody would be looking at the steel guitar instead of the singer on stage! Smile

Mike, why the clear-coat over mica? ......or is it not mica?

Anyway, those are beautiful guitars. I'd love a red or green pearl D-10 someday.

Mike, Do you mean "polished" or "buffed"? I am also curious as to the reason...is there a clear coat involved?
