It's actually a pre/power amp combo, I have the MB 500 been using it for a over a year now, I like it a lot, it's not tube but still does a good job, I have no complaints

Still using mine, with a 15" Eminence EPS-15 speaker, after over a year. My Wife is using one with a 12" SICA bass speaker for rhythm guitar, too.

POD XT or POD X3 for effects.

I only use the POD's for effects only with the MB200, no amp sims. e.g. my main "tone" (program) is digital delay and spring reverb.

I do have a an amp sim program that I use with the POD's for recording - I go direct from the POD to the input on my Roland Octa-Capture (recording interface unit)then to Sonar X1.

It's my main live rig- has been for two years. Pair it with a reverb and a Tommy Huff Lightweight enclosure and you're golden.

22lbs in a Tommy Huff cab with 15" SICA and a Holy Grail velcroed inside....what is not to love?

Oh yeah, I forgot....the tone. With a Sarno Black Box, it is acceptable, but still clearly solid state...somewhat warm, but not complex....if you are OK with solid state, it is a great alternative....but if you lust for tube tone, it doesn't get there...

So I just ordered a Milkman Steel Amp. If you gotta' have tone, you gotta' have tone....I'll still use the MB200 at gigs where it it isn't crucial what I sound like or where I actually want that "modern" tone....but at 55lbs for a tone monster, I can see using the tube amp a lot more than I have been (now only have an 85lb tube amp).

Yes, I have been using my rig with great satisfaction for 1-1/2 years now. I love the light weight too!

To those that "must have" a tube amp, there is no reason to even consider a solid state amp (any brand).

But we are talking about a solid state amp and specifically the MB200 on this thread.

Quite right Jack, and it's class D amplification, whatever the heck that is. All I know for what it is- a bass amp - its great.

Class D means PWM - or "switching" power supply.

Couldn't disagree more with Tim.......Rolling Eyes

Mine have been everything and more for going on 2 years now. Never a even a hiccup.

I never owned a Fender, or any other tube amp that came anywhere close to that service record.

I have both a 200 and a 500. They work perfectly. No complaints. A damn good lightbulb for sure. I mostly use the 200 because I find the MB500 too heavy to haul to gigs. : )

Good one Tom, I've read class D technology has made some great improvements in the past years, a lot of amp mfgs are making more amps now with class D, was the peavey DPC 750 power amp class D?

But, I'll never sell my old Fender amps. Still like the tone of them just a tad better. But in a noisey (dive) bar, I usually bring the lightbulb amp instead. Fits in the steel seat, too.

Don't flatter yourself.....

Nobody asked a question. You pretty much stretched it into one in order to spew your agenda.

Wouldn't have you on my team. Laughing

Regarding the MB200 threads, you're a troll, plain and simple....mostly simple

Tried it for about six months with one of Tommy's cabinets with a 15" Eminience speaker, but I keep going back to my N112, just like the tone from it better. (IMHO)

I use an MB200 with a Sarno black box and a digitech RP155 into a 15" black widow in a cabinet. I really like the sound. There have been gigs where I ran the volume at about 75-80%, but it worked fine. I have everything mounted in an old laptop bag- very convenient.

My favorite set-up at present is: Williams steel > SGBB > VP > DispatchMaster > MB200 > JBL K-130

Very, very nice tone ! If I need dirt for my lap steel, I'll add an EarthDrive in front of the VP.
