Advice on Pedal Steel Cases

Post by Heather Murray »

I have a single frame MSA 12 string about 36/8.5 width/6inches depth, and I want to get a case for it as soon as possible. In my searches I have narrowed it down to the following makers:

Sierra http://www.sierrasteelguitar.com/ezz.html
Texas Case http://www.texascase.com/
Greer http://www.casesbygreer.com/
Dell http://www.cox-internet.com/dellcases/

other possible options are Austin Custom Cases and Just N Case.

I need a case that has wheels, durable enough for flight and for checking as baggage on flights (so it has to be under 70 lbs my guitar included). Do any of you have experience with any of these makers and can you tell me why you might choose one over the other?

I feel a little nervous about checking my guitar as baggage, so I want it to be well protected. For those of you that travel with you PSG, do you have insurance on it.

thanks for the help!

This is not the only good choice I am sure but I am sure it is a very good choice. I am very pleased with the stuff he has built for me. Perfection is hard to beat.

Try Opti-Case out of Henderson, TX. My flight case has wheels and is very durable. I have had them build two steel cases and two amp cases still happy with all of them. They can build to your specifications and deliver in 10 days. Try www.opti-case.com they are great people to deal with.

Since Sierra's WheelEzz case is plastic, I'm sure it will be the lightest. While not ATA rated, I've heard of a lot of people flying with them with no problems.

Bob Dell is making a Polypropylene case that is very light, and of the highest quality, but I don't think it's ATA rated either.
