I have been playing a Carter Starter for a little over a year. I recently bought this Mullen.
The pickup makes a lot of noise when my volume pedal is full.
I would appreciate suggestions on what to replace it with.
Need pickup advice

That looks like fluorescent lighting. And you have a single-coil pickup. Try different spots around the room, different angles of placing the guitar in the room.
I suspect you may have to live with it til you decide to throw a humbucker in there.

2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

You could try a George L E-66...they are a pretty popular humbucker...probably pick-up a used one here on forum for a good price.
I also agree, the issue is probably the single coil you have. Just note your sound may change a bit, but you may prefer that to buzz.

Hell, if that's a TrueTone, I'll trade him.
I have an E66 sitting in my living room that came outta my Zum when I put a TrueTone on my E9 neck. I'll swap and throw a TrueTone on the back neck as well
