Al Marcus: Chalker's C6 Setup

Post by bob grossman »

Al:

On all the setups I saw for Mr. C., he lowered the second str. to B ALONG with lowering the top E to D. It was P10. P9 lowered the second string by itself. I didn't see the reason for this, that is since they were side by side and the C to B was on P9, but it is what I referred to as not wanting to ask him. That is exactly the kind of question for which he would have put someone down and my limited experience talking with him had been pleasant.

Bob-you are right about that.

The 10th pedal is very useful in many ways. I think with Curly (although I couldn't get into his mind) He might have used that instead of the usual P7 we use a lot.

And yes, it did sort of duplicate the P9 .

He wanted that C to B alone and Not change the E to D on that pedal. It works very good that way.

I know that Reece used to use that E to D and C to B but on different knee levers. It works very good that way too, with everything.

He also used the 10th pedal for the A-B country sound. He was a great player but hard to talk to............al Image Image

Johhny did have Curlys old MCI guitar the last time I was over there. It's a ten pedal guitar so he can find out for sure if he doesn't already know.

I use my 4th. pedal to lower my E's to D 2nd. and 6th. string.Works good with 5th. pedal and with CtoB knee lever. this way I have the D note, because I tune my 1st. string to G. Joe

Joe-Good idea. Jr Knight lowered his 2nd string E to D on a knee lever and kept the high G. On his D10 Carter.

Sometimes it is better to Lower the 6th string E to D on a separate lever.

But by doing the E to D and C to B amd keeping the high G. you have the same as A and B pedals on E9.....al Image
