C6 Carter Starter?

Is there any way a Carter Starter can be modified to a C6?

Or better yet, John or Ann, have you considered making a C6 model?

I'd love to have such a guitar. If one was available I'd buy it.

Hey, Mike, if you or anyone is interested, I might part with my keyless Excel (C6th!) Actually it's not a starter, but a finisher!
Ist class and doesn't break strings either.
(or are Carl & I just so old we don't treat our strings as rough as you younger guys??!!)
It has 3 P & 5 KL (1 is a vertical) Good as new condition, weighs in @ 25# to play + 12#
of case. Bill Lawrence pickup.....acceptable
tone! (or is that my hands?) open to serious offers! Still have the keyless Zum D10 in the closet, too!

As I understand it, you cannot change the tuning of a Carter Starter without manufacturing some different parts. Basically, we're talking about re-engineering here.

C6th pedal steel is not a beginners tuning. I wouldn't expect a student model to be C6th.

C6 pedal steel is not a beginners´tuning

Too bad there aren´t many beginners these days who decide to start out on C6 lap steel instead. That´s what all the great players who are now old did when they started. Of course there were no pedal steels in those days, but I can´t help but think it was definitely an advantage for them. I at least tried to but didn´t get very far; maybe I should have had someone to explain it to me.
But then, why would Mike want such a guitar anyway? We all know he´s not a beginner. I have seen several ads for single neck C6 steels (Emmons and ZB, for instance, at Scotty´s; they´re gone now, but this shows there must be some interesting models out there.)
an afterthought... maybe he wants something light after his accident, but I believe there are lightweight pro models as well that are a lot easier to reconfigure to C6...

Mike-Doug has a nice C6 setup and gets a lot of very nice music out of it. 3 pedals and 5 knee levers.

I have a D10 Carter, and use mostly the bottom neck tuned to E6, same as tonic E on the guitar, and same as tonic E on E9 neck.

That's very flattering Joe, but I only play E9. I know very little about the C6 neck.

I keep all my instruments, along with my recording gear, in my basement. There is no access to the basement from the rest of the house. I have to go outside and walk to the back to get there. I'd like to have a S-10 C6 upstairs so that I wouldn't have to go out every time I felt like practising.

I am an architect by profession and can help you add an interior stair to that house - it help make all your guitars easier to get at! This turned out to be an interesting thread since I had also wondered if any manufacturers made a single neck C6 (pro or starter) and if not why not. I was interested Joe's response regarding a non-pedal C6 as a starter instrument since I just ordered one to 'learn' with....I admire some of those C6 non-pedal players as well. I am looking for a lightweight S10 with 5 pedals and 5 knee levers tuned to C6 or E6.

I have thought about Carter, Williams, Excel, GFI, and maybe if I could afford it the New Millenium by MSA...al
