My new travel D8
Built by Domique Chevalier, luthier in Caveirac France, a work of art and a hell of an instrument.

Love the dot markers, the hollow fretboards and the pickups.

The scale is 22.5, the wood is walnut, with suspended maple fretboard that leave the soundboards free to vibrate. the frets are ebony inlay with abalone dots.
The big issues for the luthier were the 2 seprate sound chambers and the mecanics. It is a very compact instrument, 32 inches long. I have a gig bag for it and it fits in the overhead compartment of airplanes.
Actually I got this beauty on monday in France and took off for California on wednesday to visit my long time musical friends in Long Beach. If you are around here I'll be playing with them at the Mirage Cafe on East Bigsby in Long Beach, May 4th, 7 to 9:30 pm. I'll be happy to meet any southern California steelers and present you the instrument.
Other than that, I'm planning to go to Jim Palenscar Oceanside shop on tuesday May !st, I'll be there as soon as 10 am, with the steel.
Jim's shop is steelguitar paradise to me and there is no shop like this back in France !

I wonder how much the strings ring sympathetic......
I have a double neck resophonic "dobro".....6 & 8.....G & G6......there is some string vibration on which ever neck is not being played, but since the tunings are very closely related.....it produces a very pleasing sound......it's like having a little bit of reverb.....
