I downloaded the DaTuner Android tuner app for my Galaxy Nexus phone. Last night I spent some time determining the StroboFlip E9th (SE9) and C6th (SC6)sweetener offsets. I did this by turning on the DaTuner audio tone generator in "Equal, Perfect Octave" mode and playing it into the StroboFlip mic. By adjusting the StroboFlip +/- cents offset up and down I was able to determine the StroboFlip offsets for each tuning sweetener.

As such these results could be used with any tuner app to duplicate the StroboFlip sweeteners. You'll notice that the table can be compacted greatly as Peterson repeats the settings for every octave. I converted the cents offsets to actual frequencies using a frequency +/- cents to frequency converter (se link below). You can see that the StroboFlip sets the E9th open E and the C6th open C sharp by about the same amount. It would be easy to shift these results up or down to set E4 at 329.6 or C4 at 261.6 etc.

I use a high D on C6 but the chart does include setting for an E note as Flip uses the same settings on every octave. My E9th copedant drops the low B to A so the ranges shown reflect my personal copendant but are not limited to that. Due to the minimal cabinet drop in my MSA Legend, I have a chart that modifies the Flips vlaues on some of the knee levers. With the Android app I will likely have one custom tuning for open and one for pedals.

I haven't had a lot of time to play with DaTuner but it's very similar to ClearTune although a bit more powerful with more settings options and a TON of temperaments are included. I am not sure my Android phone offers an audio line input so that might be a disadvantage over the IPHONE. Also, DaTuner offers custom presets but the .csv file needed to create these was not stored in my SD directory on the phone. I emailed the author and he is aware of this and working on a solution.

I used this web set to convert the Flip cents deviations back to hertz:

Are these results any different than those posted in the stroboflip manual?

No idea! Never read my manual..... Gonna load up Clear Tune and compare it with DaTuner. Looks like I'll need an input cable to get a good read in a noisy room.

Definitely not time wasted! Glad you learned something. I almost never read the manual, but did for my strobo flip because I wanted to program in my own temperment.

Tomorrow I'm spending the day reinventing the wheel and on Sunday I plan to use it to come up with the value of Pi. Then I have this new idea for a bubble sort in Fortran or was it APL ............
