I was reading Bobbe Seymour's newsletter earlier today and he was filling us in on some of what we missed by not attending his recent party at Steel Guitar Nashville.
He has put up a number of videos of the event and I was intrigued by one in particular, a demonstration by Rusty Rhoads of a new Jackson six string pedal steel with legs that can be extended for standup playing.
I realize that six string pedal steels have been done before by a few builders over a period of many years. I really enjoyed the video (link below) of Rusty switching back and forth between a Tele and the Jackson while playing standing up.
I think this instrument has a lot of potential. And I'd like to see Rusty push pedals with his left foot and work the volume pedal with his right foot while in a standing position!
I called the store and talked to Bobbe's lady asking about the price and availability but she said that the Jacksons didn't leave any information about that so we'll just have to wait patiently for the details, and I couldn't find anything on the Jackson website about the guitar.
