My heart's broken. Herby was at our last jam and at all of our jams he came too, we talked and talked and talked. I was looking forward to seeing him at our next one. My prayers go out to Bunny and the family.

I am deeply saddened by this news. I first met Herby nearly 30 years ago and am honored to call him my friend. He has helped many times through the years and was a true gentleman. I will always remember the great times we had talking. Just a few weeks ago after our jam here in Bristol, we stood out in the parking lot talking for over an hour. We will keep Bunny and the family in our prayers.

Passing Of Herbie Wallace

Post by Stoney Stonecipher »

I would have posted much much earlier, but I have been sitting here in front of my computer dumb founded and in shock at the news of the passing of Herbie Wallace. Just like so many of our great steel guitar players---you just expected to be here playing music forever. I had a great 22 year successful run with my Smokey Mountain Steel Jam---and it all started with the offer of 2 great men to be my starring guest on the first show, Scotty Scott & The Great Herbie Wallace. They told me "You start the show & you'll have our full support" and they both did until my show ended in the year 2000. I will always be gratful and apprecitive of these great musicians. The convention this year will not seem the same without Herbie. My condolences go out to Ms Bunny & their two daughters & the one son, Herbie Jr.

We are shocked and greatly saddened like everyone else. Herby was indeed a masterful player, and I last saw him at the Dallas show, and we did have a short chat. A wonderful player and a great gentleman. Our prayers and condolences to Bunny and all the Wallace family. He will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace, Herby. What a wonderful man and musician. I had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with Herby at Scotty's convention last year. Boy he will really be missed. God speed.

I don't want to believe this is true..As someone said before, I'm stunned, shocked, and so very sad. Herby has become a friend over the years...His performance at our Grand Rapids shows just made things happen..He was a very dear man..May God be there with Bunny and give her the strength she needs to get through this horrible time...
