Emmons split coil pickups

I have a '68 D-11 (black, of course), 10-5 with split coil pickups on both necks. They have 11 pole pieces and the ohmage on the E9 is 18.30 and 9.68, and on the C6 is 18.60 and 9.89. I haven't seen a lot of talk about Emmons having split coils and I was wondering how common were these.

My D10 Bolt-on has split coils over the hill from you and just north of Westwood.

chas, it's your old buddy Herb here, you might remember me from days gone by.

Two of my D10 wraparounds (I know, that sounds obscene

) have split coil pickups, both horns having 20.5K and 11.5k on both necks. I think it was common, since Sho~Bud was doing this at the same time frame... mid-60's.

Chris, I didn't think they allowed steel players in Westwood.

My D10 ('82-'83) has two of those pickups, both with 22k and 13k. I'm a bit surprised to hear about values as low as 9.7k and 11k. Does the 9.7k setting sound thin?

Chas, they don't allow TALENTED steel guitar players in Westwood, so I should never have a residency problem.
I think Cass told me my pickups were a touch over 20 and a touch over 10. Cass will know. I got the guitar through him. He had a similar set on a guitar of his own.
At low volume, when I imagine some highs are attenuated anyway, the light pickup setting sounds good.

Does the 9.7k setting sound thin?

An old '76 Emmons that I got ahold of
awhile back has those pickups in it.
In fact the C6th one had to be rewound.
Ron (over at Emmons) had to make up
a special jig just to do the rewind,
since he rarely come across those pickups.
I got it back last month, & it sounds
great! These are wound to about 18K
& tapped at about 9.5K.
