I've been working on a new tuning, and the song I'm getting ready to record needs an acoustic sound instead of my Dual 6 (Stringmaster). I dug out my Wife's 1966 Epiphone Cortez that's got some action issues, and hasn't gotten much love lately. I cut a wider raised ebony nut and it KICKS ASS as a lap piano. I'll try to post some of my test recordings soon.

I converted an old Samick LW-013. Put on a raised nut, replaced the saddle with a tusq saddle, a set of John Pearse 3160's and the damn thing sounds better than it ever did played Spanish style.

You got me going. I just pulled it out an dusted it off.

Since I have the Reso and Oahu's I play them and this was my "porch" guitar. So spring has finally sprung and I will be spending time on the deck so ............ Still sounds good. I keep it in D tuning so as not to put too much pressure on the neck or top.

Sounds great Bill - what is the tuning and string size?

The string guages are 56 - 46 - 36 - 26 - 21 - 16 I changed strings on my Stringmaster last week, so I could get a lower bottom note and this is the tuning I ended up with. I got so tied up in composing, that I never figured out what the tuning is. Maybe I ought to do that ;~)
