Anyone made the switch with Jags being non-existent at the moment?

They are still around and still doing a little business. I got strings from Danny yesterday as a matter of fact. So please don't let on like they aren't in business. Doing that is like a death sentence to a business.

I did say "At the moment" based on b0b's announcement on the strings page:

"Jagwire is not shipping strings at this time, and I'm not sure when they will resume."

I LOVE Jags and can't wait for them to be in stock. But I need strings, NOW !!!

That announcement is dated Sept 20 of last year. Apparently Jagwire is filling their retail backorders now.

Check out the "New Product Announcements" section. Sid Hudson has started a new psg string company. Live Steel Strings. I think I'm about to give up the Boomers for these!!!

FYI, I just slapped on a set of b0b's E9 custom shop progressive wound strings from GHS.

I really like em so far. I like a bright string, the brighter the better. Great punch on the wounds, and singing highs on the plains.

Thanks b0b

Danny has my business as long as he wants it. Jagwire have never let me down, and I particularly like that .012" 3rd string in the PF set.

In any case, $13.50 for a set of E9th strings is on the high side so I can't see me trying those new ones of Sid Hudson's until there's no choice left!

I've been in touch with Danny & Regina, and my "back-order" should be arriving in a few days time.
I wish them all there the "very best of luck" with all the family problems that they've all been experiencing recently.
I've found them to be the very best strings I've ever used ........not only on my steels, but on my 5 string banjo and my guitars.Cool

GHS stainless steel seems a good choice if you can't get your Jags.

I have been using cobra coils stainless lately and really like the sound. I used to use jagwires when I could get them - here is some of the history of cobra coils of bobbe's website:

Bobbe worked with Cobra Coil Strings to make a great string even better. After several months of experimenting, Steel Guitar Nashville received the NEW Cobras in February 1999. Cobra is an acronym for the words cobalt and brass. Due to the constant stretching and releasing of strings by pedal mechanisms, steel guitars place the greatest demands on string wire. Cobra Coil strings are made of the finest alloys to meet these specific demands of steel guitars; in fact, Cobra Coil strings are manufactured only for steel guitars! They are absolutely incredible, get rave reviews and have become a staple in our line of high-quality steel guitar accessories!

Interesting, I hedged my bet a couple of weeks ago when I ran out of Jagwires and ordered a set of Cobra Coils for my E9th neck. Not enough time on guitar to offer opinions yet, but so far so good.
