How many of you have discovered that your application of pedals is MORE MECHANICAL than from the heart?

Some folks just smash their feet down..... (just examine some of the pedal rods of guy's guitars)

Others, use a gentle caressing touch with a lot of finesse...........like an angelic voice.

WHICH are YOU? Sad

I do better when I don't think about the mechanicals. When I DO think about the mechanicals,I can only wish I could mash my potatoes as strongly as my pedals! Laughing

It depends on the song, the lick, the application.
Bud's Bounce or going all Mooney? Mash that sucker.
Ballads? Squeeze that sucker good and slow, speeding up as you get near the final note (a ¼ fret off sounds more painful than ½ a fret).
I'll lightly tap the B pedal in a blues lick I'm fond of, taking the VI tone to the VII and letting it drop right back.
Or, whatever it takes to express whatever was on my mind at the time

Funny you should ask, Ray. I never gave it much thought until I viewed a video I made for YouTube (after a friend suggested I also show the footwork.) Always thought I kind of smashed them, but I guess not. Looks like my foot caresses the pedals. Who'd a thunk?

Ray, I am an emotional player! That being said, sometimes I smash the pedals down Question Exclamation Laughing
All jokes aside like Lane said some songs require a pedal hammer down and others require finess.
