MJ,
You said a mouthfull! I agree on every point.

And Pete,
Truth really can be stranger than fiction. Image

Ricky,
This isn't the same solo from the version with the soundbyte above. Sounds like it starts on the 8th string to me. First note is definitely F# sliding to G. Maybe this is a different rendition. (?)
NOTE(added later): I just noticed, it says "INTRO" at the top and I seem to recall the version Jeff sent me starts right in with the vocal -- but I COULD be wrong.
Your efforts are always appreciated, my friend. No Jay Dee tab will go to waste. Image

Larry
I don't know if this tab fits the soundclip.
I tabbed it from a Desert Rose CD for the steel-seminar in Hattfjelldal last year.
When I had to show how to play it J.D.Maness himself was in the audience listening to the solo. I have to say my hands were quite shaky when I had to play the whole solo and explain the different parts. But I managed to do it even though I almost dropped my bar a couple of times.
I even got the chance to ask J.D. about the whole step raise on the 7th string and if my
memory is still correct he confirmed the raise on the 7th string.
About the start, it is a slide T ( only way to get the correct feel ) then a forward roll, T I M. Index Middle rests on string 7 & 8 when you play the first note so they are ready to do the roll after the slide.

Thanks, Bengt
At least the first part is what I'd worked on at home last night.

Impeccable work as usual!

Thanks

Bob, this topic is done. I found out what I needed. You can close it. Thanks. And again, thanks to all of you for your help. If anyone wants to continue discussing the various ways of playing either the Panama Red or Hello Trouble solos, or come up with the tab, please start another topic. I suggest you use the Tablature section of the Forum. That way we can debate the pros and cons of various interpretations. Thanks.<FONT SIZE=1 COLOR="#8e236b"><p align=CENTER>[This message was edited by Jeff Lampert on 15 May 2002 at 12:06 PM.]</p></FONT>
