Thanks Thomas

I have tried it and it does not have offset temperaments, nor can you you program them. You'd be better off with the Cleartune app or Tune Up by Planet Waves. Both are very good and programmable.
The Peterson and iRig connectors both work with all of these apps if you want to go straight into the phone for gigs.

Clear tune is by far the best tuner for an IPhone or Ipad that I have found. You can program in the temperaments that you choose or any other tempermaent. I programmed the ones off Petereson for E9th and C6th and it will put you right on the money.

Hi Buck, unfortunately that seems to be one of the Droid's shortcomings. I am fairly new to the Android OS I just recently bought an Acer Iconia A500 32 gb tablet and of course that's one of the first things I searched for in the Droid market place as well as the Amazon Droid Market place.
I did find one tuner that looks pretty decent and has possibilities called "Da-Tuner". As of now it only uses the internal microphone to get the signal in as far as I can see but it's a pretty rich tuner filled with lots of possibilities.
I wrote the app developer and asked about future releases and asked if he planned to add a signal path in thru the USB or headphone in and he said he was working on it now.
So it's worth taking a look at. I think there is a free version with ads and paid version without ads. I'd say it's worth looking at.
Bob

How do you program Cleartune? The instructions are vague.
Update: I got the instructions from Cleartune.

I recently got the cleartune app to use with an ipod touch. I find that the internal mic seems quite sensitive to other external noise in addition to my steel when I'm tuning- with or without the steel plugged direct into the headphone jack (which I gather doubles as a mic input). This is no problem in a quiet environment at home, but obviously trickier in a gig or rehearsal situation. So far I haven't found a way to disable the internal mic. Not sure whether this is also an issue with the iphone or ipad. Any suggestions on how to get a direct signal from steel to (ipod) tuner without unwanted noises being picked up?

I have my own tuning chart, which is a modified Jeff Newman chart (the original chart referenced to the E's at "0", not the newer chart).
I can post it if anyone wants it. It was modified for my Franklin. I started with the Newman chart and then changed whatever was needed so my guitar was in tune.

Dale B,
The manual for the Peterson Stroboflip has them :
http://www.petersontuners.com/media/pdf ... nglish.pdf
I fully realise, that it's not very "politically correct" to post Petersons settings for use in a competing product, but Peterson has chosen NOT to offer a truly portable software tuning solution that includes tempered tunings, so in a way I think it's ok to do so.
I'm not trying to create any controversy here, but simply linking to something that's already publicly available!
I wish Peterson would include tempered tunings in their iStrobosoft (which I already own and have on my iPad) and also that they would consider making an Android version available of the same thing - but that is just wishfull thinking !
Ole

According to what Peterson posted on facebook it looks like they are working on an updated iPad version that will allow creating your own tunings.

Probably not, I'm 74. I have Facebook but don't use it much. I only found out about Peterson being on Facebook because of an e-mail I got that said they were shutting down their tuning forum and will be using Facebook in place of it.

Buck, if you press on the small 'i' symbol on the bottom right hand corner of the screen this will open up the options in the app. You can then add additional presets to the default (equal temperament) setting, and also create custom temperaments under the 'temperaments' option. It took me a while to work it out, but after much button pressing and fiddling around I eventually got there.

Buck, if you click the link started by James Mayer, below and scroll down to Landon Roberson's post. He added the Peterson pre-sets. I'm not that techy, but it was simple enough for me to program the cleartune app. I find it works every bit as good as my Strobo-flip.
