At Jack Whites Third Man Records SXSW showcase saturday night both of Jack's bands featured the pedalsteel as well as Karen Elson's band. It was a pretty wild night.

Yeah, Bob. Drop some names, man. I know you stayed pretty busy during the madness. Who all did you get a chance to play with?

PS...call me about those pickups - I have my Mullen back.

From all I've read, it seems JW used the same two bands that that appeared with him recently on SNL.

Jack White is touring with 2 bands. The female one has Maggie Björklund and the male one has Fats Kaplin. Fats plays some fiddle too. Its as high profile as a gig can get these days. Jack White puts on an amazing show. He is a bona fide rock star. There will not be a bunch of pictures or crappy you tubes because they throw out anybody that tries to use there camera phone during the show.

I forgot the name of the guy that plays steel with Karen Elson. He plays a few different instruments during the show.

I could easily be taken for a geezer, but I'm really startin' to like this guy. Does that signify the death knell for his career? Laughing Shocked

If you look close you can see a pedal steeler in the background. Looks like she's playing a GFI:

One of my bandleaders sent me this vid and said "I think you're fired"!

Seriously though, where is she in the mix??

A few fills in between vocals and solo at the end. The solo is actually quite front-and-center.

I've never seen a GFI that looked like that. There's one spot where you get a blurred glimpse of logo, but based on front apron with marquetry on top/bottom and the wide endplate piece wrapping around the front, I'd say it looks more like a Sho Bud. That's not inconsistent with the blurred logo shot, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it.

That is Maggie, and that is her (black) Sho-Bud.

Ahhh... Sho-Bud it is. Thought I saw the GFI logo but I guess I better get my eyes checked.
Whatever the case, it is still pretty cool to see (and sorta hear) a pedal steel on SNL!
