Pro bono e-session

Pro bono e-sessions

Greetings,

I realize a lot of you are very hard working gentlemen who have invested much of in acquiring your skill levels at your respective instrument. You work hard and you rightly deserve the fees that you earn. I don't mean to insult any of you with this ad.

There might be others in this community who might be likewise skilled, but also perhaps have another motivation beyond mere financial gain. You play for passion, you play for experience, and you may play for a cause that you find motivating.

I’m hoping to find in this community one of the later.

My name is Eric and I am an American living in Eastern Europe, where I work with Baptist churches and engage in agricultural development in the areas affected by the Yugoslav civil war, in Croatia and Bosnia. On the side, I also write Christian songs and record them with some Croatian friends. These tend to be rock/country-rock types of songs that I grew up on in Texas and Virginia. My friends are able to handle the general elements of this style of music, but there’s nothing like a steel guitar. You can’t fake that.

In the past I have always been to content to enjoy my music among my friends, but a recent medical crisis has caused me to consider sharing this music publically. There are currently three songs that I’m looking to add steel guitar to, but I don’t know where to turn other than this community. I’ve seen ads online for as much as $300 a song, this is simply not realistic in my situation.

All that would be necessary would be the ability to record and transmit electronic files (WAV/MP3).

Anyone who would be open to helping me out, feel free to IM. I don’t know what kind of references would be appropriate in a situation like this, but I would be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.

Thanks,

Eric

Thanks for your quick response.

We did the original recordings on Logic (Mac), but I believe that any program that would generate WAV or MP3 would allow me to mix/automate the track.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Bud,

Thanks for writing. I've got to say, with out the support of family and friends I don't know where I'd be right now.

And then from strangers, on this forum… What a community!

In addition to Dan, Leroy D's also offered to help out. Let's see how much time/talent they can spare, and go from there. If not I'll be in touch.

Thanks so much,

Eric

I agree, that's probably not a realistic fee...unless the player is Paul Franklin, or someone of nearly that caliber. There are many fine steelers in Europe, and I'm sure that someone over there would be willing to help, or to guide you to someone in your vicinity that might do something a little more reasonable. 8)
