Hi,

The other day I did a studio session and plugged into this old Gibson amp:

Does anyone know what this model is called? The studio owner said it dates from around the late 1940s.

It has 3 instrument inputs and 1 microphone input.

3 controls: 1 volume control each for instrument and microphone, and 1 tone control.

Thanks,

Fred

Gibson made a LOT of different amps. You may find what you're looking for on this site --> Click

Check the Early Post WWII series. If you find specs that match the amp in question, do a Google Image search of that Model number and you may find a pictures of that model.

I agree with CB - looks like a GA-6 Lancer, probably mid-late 50s. Tweed-Deluxe killers - to my tastes, smoother & sweeter - I've owned a few, they were just great.

Of course, a close-up of the control panel would confirm or deny this.

Thanks everyone! Much appreciated.

Here is the control panel:

The amp sounded great with my 1963 Gibson ES-125. There was quite a bit of hum going on but once a quiet spot in the studio was found it sounded beautiful.

Cheers,

Fred

The control panel is the same as my early 50's GA 20. The Ry Cooder amp. Dark and spooky.

This is a GA-6, I have one like it that a friend gave me.
Mine is still in the project stage.
Mine says "Model GA-6" down near the inputs near the back. I am anxious to get mine up and going.
