Lately I've been playing a lot of music and am starting to do some open mics, local jams and inviting musicians to come to the house to play in anticipation of going out and playing some gigs. One of the things that people respond to is my lap steel playing, so I've been focused on playing lap while I'm singing. It has been fun getting back into lap steel and I think I've been coming up with some interesting things that work well for my voice. I'll try and post some things when I get around to it.
I'd love to be able to engage with like minded folks about the kinds of things I'm working on, but don't feel real comfortable posting on the SGF anymore. I know it is a long shot but does anyone know of another resource for lap steel players to comunicate with each other? My last experience posting here about my joy in playing with a drum circle was very unpleasant for me and I don't really want to repeat it. I'd love to find a resource where people are more interested in talking about modern and unusual styles of lap steel playing. Thanks in advance if you know of anything. |

There's a Facebook group for lap steel players, but I don't know of any specific lap steel discussion sites other than this one, offhand.
I'm sorry you don't feel comfortable here, Bill. I wish you good luck with your steel guitar playing!
