Texas TSGA Jamboree

Post by Albert Talley »

A big thank you to all for helping to make the Jamboree a big success!!! It was so good to see everyone and see the great fellowship!

A big thank you to Bobby Bowman for his dedication to the TSGA and the wonderful job you always do from the stage! No apologies accepted. You take care of yourself! We love you!

Another thanks to Bill Ferguson for his help from the stage. What a professional! He kept things rolling and under control and had a good time doing it!

And, Mike Siler, what a voice and great job in helping us MC and keeping us on track. Thanks for being with us!

Our Hall of Fame inductees were Jim Loessberg and Bobby Dixon. Congratulations to two well-deserving players!

The TSGA Steel Player of the Year went to Ronnie Symank and our runner-up player of the year was Joan Cox. Two great players who do so much for steel guitar.

The President's award was given to Floyd and Marvin Adair for their dedication and help they give the TSGA. Officers for the organization remain the same.

We look forward to getting ready for an even bigger 2013. Be sure to make your reservations now at the Sheraton DFW, 972-929-8400.

Love you guys!! Albert and Debbie

We would also like to extend our thanks to the Benevolent Fund, Barbara Rosetta, Dee Polish, Jim and Janet Wise (Lynn), and all others that reached out to help. What a support group and we feel so blessed by the outpouring of support for those in need both from the vendors and the attendees!

The TSGA giveaway guitar donated by Fred Justice and Justice Steel Guitar and Cases was won by Gerald Davidson of Canada....he says he now has to learn to play!! Another big thanks to Fred for his generosity!

The ETS giveaway went to Mitchell Smitty of the Dallas area. Thanks to ETS for making this opportunity available.

There were many opportunities for learning at the show with the amp and resonators seminars. Another big thanks to Paul Franklin for providing two great learning seminars. We so appreciate that he made those available for everyone helping to make it a great show!

Thanks for all of your support! If you didn't get to come, make sure we get to see you next year!!

God bless.

Well I was going to start my own post, but will seize the opportunity to post on yours Albert.

I am still on a HIGH from this show. When Albert called and asked me to be one of the MC's, I had no idea that I would be welcomed by so many.

The atmosphere of this show is incredible. I cannot even begin to say how many people I met for the first time, got re-aquainted with many more and saw many old friends.

Linda and I were received in such a way, that all I can say is that it was a true "magical" experience being a part of this great show.

No we did not get much sleep, but what the heck, who need's sleep.

Barbara Rosetta made Linda a part of the Benevolent Fundraising and I learned to be an auctioneer.

I want to thank Albert, Debbie and the entire staff for allowing us Georgian's to join the TSGA staff.

We so look forward to next year already.

Thanks to all from the bottom of our hearts.

Bill & Linda Ferguson

Hi Albert, Hi Debbie..

I am glad it was another successful show.
I really missed seeing you all, but I did get a few sneaky peeks at some of it with the aid of a friend, and her iPad, using FaceTime. In fact, Mike Johnson and Joanie played a request for me LIVE while I watched in Aberdeen Scotland while he was in the SP booth. Fantastic.
Sorry I missed this year.
I am hoping to make 2013..
It was always in my plans..

Best wishes,
David H.

Wish I could have been there to hear Paul Franklin's set. Was Herby Wallace there? Also one of my favorites. Maybe next year.

It was a great show Albert. Congradulations to you and all the staff. It was also a blessing to see you feeling better and able to enjoy it more yourself. Thanks for putting Steve Palousek back in the lineup and you've got a hit on your hands with them ragein Cajuns. We made our reservations for next year before we left. I got a little ill and had to miss Richards church service, but he's already called me at home to check on me.

Albert, on behalf of Jeff Strouse and myself, we would like to thank you and Debbie for your continued support of The Rick Alexander Non Pedal Sessions.....

The Non Pedal room continues to be a success and those of us who are "pedally challanged" are grateful to be able to keep this part of steel guitar history alive & kickin'.....and progressing...

We also want to thank you for playing a set in our room....you played wonderfully.....it was a pleasure and of course you're invited back again next year....if your schedule permits....

Jeff & I are already planning for next year and hope to make 2013 a banner year for the non pedal room.....

Albert,

As I said to you Sunday morning, it is a fantastic show every year. I attended my first one in 1997 and I have only missed one since.

Keep up the good work with your crew. Next year is on my calendar. The TSGA and SWSGA are the highlight of my year.

Praying to see healthy Jody, Bobby, and Herb next time!

The highlight of the show for me was the western swing band (featuring Albert of course). Three fiddles, two horns, Chuck Back, Curtis Potter and Mike Siler, Johnny Case and a great rhythm section. It just doesn't get any better than that. You guys need to be in prime time instead of after midnight! It appears that real western swing is alive and well at the TSGA show.

I'm so glad to hear all the positive responses! It does my heart good to see success when you've worked so hard for it to be a success! Albert, we're sure looking forward to you coming and playing for us at our show in Branson. Hopefully, we can get some sound advice from you to help us here in our shows in Branson. For the most part, people seem to be pleased with what we're doing, but I believe this thread tonight reveals a 100% positive and I would say that's a very good percentage! You can't get better than that! Should the Lord tarry, next year will be even better for you! God bless!

Well, I just returned from this great show and I have played every show since it began in 1985. I must say that this great show seems to get bigger and better every year. Having the great singers like Curtis Potter, Johnny Bush and Darrell McCall all on the same show is unbelievable in itself. Next, the backup band is also one of the finest and no one can play with the same feel as the Texas musicians. Of course having a player like Albert Talley running things really helps, being the great musician he is. I always stay up for the dance on Saturday night and it was great as usual. Of course, a highlight for me is having Curtis Potter sit in on my set as he is my all time favorite singer. My friend, Bill Ferguson has told me not to apologize, but I am aware that my playing is still not 100% but I still enjoy getting to try anyway. I hope to be back again next year.

Herby Wallace

P.S. Thanks, Tommy White for the kind words. You may not know it but you are one of my heroes.

Well we enjoyed our time at Dallas this year as always. We would like to thank Albert, Debbie and all their crew. They always do such a great job. Merrill thanks for all the help you give the players. It was different for us without Austin. Sure hope he doesn't have to miss another one. I did take pictures and send to him. He said I wasn't making it any easier on him. He said to tell everyone that he sure missed you. He said to tell Albert to be sure and save his spot for next year. See you all down the road.

Hello,

I'd like to say a quick word of thanks to the Association for letting me play at the show and for the Hall of Fame induction. It's more of an honor than I deserve and I am truly humbled.

Best,

Jim

What a great show. Albert and Debbie along with the TSGA Officers deserve every bit of credit the people on this forum have accorded them. The show seems to get better every year under the leadership of Albert, who works tirelessly, all year long putting together this fine show. It has been my pleasure to work in the staff band, along side many great musicians for many years, and I'm looking forward to next year as I write this post. All of the players on the show were outstanding and it doesn't get any better than to have the likes of Johnny Bush, Darrell McCall and Curtice Potter all on the show in the same year.
Thanks Albert and the TSGA for allowing me to be a small part of this great show. I would also like to say what a great job the emcee's did. We missed Jody, who our prayers go out daily for, but Bobby, Bill and Mike did an outstanding job.
We hope to see all of our friends again next year,
