both some variant of a V chord, like a B6 or B13b5 Confused , some kinda weird jazz chord that sounds really cool, I love Junior.
He plays the Guitsteel in C13 I've read, so that's throwing me off right there, then he throws those slants in..., I'm trying to do this on pedal steel E9th

I think I'll string up my back neck the way he does and give it a go.

psg E9 : ( tune is in A )
the first chord sounds like an E9
fret 6 to 5 w: lever E ( lowers 4 & 8 a half tone ) & pedal A strings 8 7 6 5

the second chord sounds like an A7
the closest i find : pedal A engaged, bar on fret 1 string 10 (D) & pull off to fret 0 (C#)while playing strings 8 (E)& 6 raised a half tone to G on fret 0

Thanks crowbear, you're right about the first one, but I believe he's in E. I had thought it was a V chord, but I was wrong about that.
I strung my back neck up C13 yesterday and figured out what he was doing. That first one is an E9 triad with a slant, he slides from F9 to E9.
The second one I believe is an E7, the low D on the Bb string, and bending the A string up behind the bar.
Junior sure is smooth, he makes everything look so effortless, I wonder how long he's been at it? I need to go see him play again now that I've been playing steel for a while.
I had given up on the C6 neck, but this has got me fired up about it again. I never could figure out what to do with that low F string, but I just put 8 strings on this time and didn't hook up any pedals, I like it so far.
I gave up on trying to get the hang of his telecaster playing a long time ago. Those banjo rolls with hammer-ons are a trip! Shocked
