I am glad to hear that Steinar had a few good days before the end. I am happy that he got to recieve so much support from his colleagues and friends here. His life was rich in music.

I like how they do sendoffs in New Orleans; first a sad song for mourning, then a song of celebration.

Damn!! What bad news!

I'm so sad to hear this is how things turned out. Steinar was a terrific person and a beautiful musical soul. His motto, "Play to express, not to impress" says all you need to know about how and why he made music. I'll miss his voice of kindness and musical curiosity on the forum and I'll miss him as someone I considered my friend.

I'm really sorry to hear this. Steinar was a true artist who elevated the image of the lowly lap steel. He was an active and thoughtful participant on this forum, where he has many friends. He will be missed.

I am so sad to hear this. Like many of us here on the forum, I never had the privilege to meet Steinar in person, but I feel like he was a good friend. And I feel the same sadness as when other friends have gone on. Rest in Peace and thank you for your music and fellowship.

As John mentioned, at least Steinar went out on an upswing, with ideas and dreams still part of his life, and giving us hopes for his future. His departure leaves an unfilled portion in all who cared for this fine man. I'm sorry to hear he's left us, may we never forget him. As Steinar's musical muse said about his own legacy, "just keep playing the records", Jimi.

A beautiful cat. As someone who has "known" him for 10+ years, I engaged in many dialogues with him on things like politics and world matters and he was a very thoughtful and good person to his core.

At peace and no longer in pain, one very gentle giant, will I'm sure be long remembered amongst us all, he was a joy to be with, and to have playing by your side. We emailed a few days ago and I post these with his blessing, from my trip to Norway he organised in 2010

The video below was taken from his camera, he'd just placed on the front table, i was so excited I kept forgetting the words !! funny how at the time one never realises the significance of what is being captured, a night I'll never forget.
