Hey all, what a great time we had in Branson on Saturday!!!!!!!!! Wonderful folks, super music, AND lip smacking food, can't beat that, huh??
Gene and I really enjoyed everything! Thanks to the great back up band that sure makes a big difference in the way we sound, they were there ALL DAY backing up the steel pickers and singers. Thanks to Charlie and Rose for governing all the food, whoever prepared that strawberry jello dessert was heavenly, lolol!! To Jerry and Venda, thank you for all your hard work and for having the sweetest spirits on earth! I know there were so many more that made this thing happen, oh, Buddy for making the sound work for everybody and for sharing his new album too.
I could write a book and thank everybody but better not. We did miss Terry Bethel and we thank him for the invitation to come have a ball!!!! If Bill or Chad reads this, we sure would appreciate a picture or two of us on stage to put on our website, y'all do a great job!! We love you all and thank you to so many who commmented on our dedication to sharing God's love in our set, Bless y'all. Gayla Earlene and Gene Crain

The 'good' of the show went way beyond my expectation!! Our president, Terry Bethel, sure knows how to put a super schedule together! Our guest pickers were so gracious and friendly and were equalled by their expertise on the steel guitar! I was impressed with their willingness to stay overnight and join our members of the club in a great 'jam session'! Keith Hilton started the day and I think he played better than ever! Eddie Asner sang with authority with that big beautiful voice of his! I've heard Ernie Jackson sing for many years, but I tell you that his voice is as good as you'll hear anywhere! I'd like to say that Ernie got his start at our 'house jams', but that wouldn't be correct! Very Happy Very Happy We're so thankful for the joy that the Crains brought to the show on Saturday. The spirit with which they entertained us had a heavenly touch to it. And Jerry and Carlene brought a measureable amount of expertise to their set that was so delightful to hear! Jerry's playing was at its best and Carlene's singing had that gentle touch that she's known for! And listen pickers, you missed out on a great opportunity by not having Jean DeVore singing on your set! My, what a voice! I was planning on her singing on my turn on the 'jam' on Sunday but they left early Sunday morning. Thank you, Steve Melchi, for bringing Jeannie Kendall and your group. You did a great 'set'! In fact the entire day was just a SUPER day. And thank you, Eddie Lane, for filling in on a short notice! Steve Palousek is such a tremendous player and his lovely wife sang on his set and what a singer!! And guys, you couldn't have done it without the Fabulous Band!! Both days the band played so great!! And thanks Buddy for supplying the sound system and being the sound technician and also playing bass!! And Dean Holman gave us two treats: wonderful steel playing and a couple tunes on his dobro! I know I'm probably missing others that I should mention! I'd like to say about Steve Palousek, Tyler Hall, Austin Stewart, and Dean Holman, (the young fellows that closed out the show) they prove to us that steel guitar playing will be around for a long time. I wish I could say that about us older guys, but we know our days are numbered! Thanks again, Tyler, Steve, and Junior for being with us, and I, for one, want to see you come back again! But to be sure, folks, we've so proud of our own Mike McGee, who can play that steel guitar along with the best of them. He's a man of many talents and has the most affectious smile and laugh. When you see him laugh, you just have to laugh along with him, even if you don't know what he's laughing about! I'd like to tell you who my "pick" was, it was very hard to do with such talent that was there, but I have to say, the youngest one, or the youngest two, are
"tanfabulous" and takes the cake! Junior Knight, my, what a talent! I'm sure he's the pride of Texas. Years ago when I heard him play at the Hot Springs show, I thought he was tiptop then and sure didn't need any improvement, but WOW! how that man has improved on the steel guitar staggers my imagination! Along with his tremedous sense of humor and steel playing, he's a real asset to any show that will invite him. Now let's think about the cooks supplying the necessary vituals. Yum! Yum! Yum! puts it best!! But a great big thank you is not adequate, but please accept our appreciation for a successful gathering! Bill and Chad, we give you a GREAT big thank-you for extending our memories of the February show with your cameras! The Sunday jam was a big success! There were 11 steel players, Corky Davis, Jim Kielblock, (who also sang),Jerry Hanley, Terry Bethel, Tyler Hall, Steve Melchi, Eddie Lane, Jerry Smythe, Mike McGee, Steve Palousek, Junior Knight. Jim Kielblock brought the highlight of the jam. You know, the guy who is the envy of everybody, who has wheels on his steel. We were all watching him 'wheel' his steel out of the building, knowing we were going to have to huff and puff to get our steel out to the car. Oh yes, I was going to say before I got side tracked. To me he's, Big Jim! You know that's coming from a 'little twerp' like me! To tell you the truth, the real success of the show and jam is the hard work of Charlie and Rosemary Steichen, our vice presidents. Their hard work and helpful hands were a blessing to all!!! I believe Terry will agree with us, we couldn't have done it without Charlie and Rosemary! (Gayla, it looks like I wrote the book you mentioned)

I found that Gene Crain and I are blood brothers, meaning--- our heritage is Cherokee Indian blood. Gene, I kept wondering why you looked exactly like my cousin Kenny. Jeremiah, thank you for the kind words about my playing.
I learned on face book that Tyler Hall had a wrech and totaled his truck. Tyler was NOT hurt, according to his face book post. Chad, how do we get to your face book page to view pictures?

Hey, everybody, sorry I had to miss the Sunday jam, I woke up not feeling my best, and thought that heading to the house was the best for me. I know it would have been a great time. The Saturday show was one of the best, and was really enjoyable, Larry Baker
