Fender 1000 & 2000
Does anyone know if the aluminum/magnesium alloy frame of the Fender 1000 & 2000 are duplicate castings (same dimensions)?
Thanks in advance, Rick

Hi guys, I stand corrected, yes, the 1000 was the D8 (my buddy had one for years & I finally convinced him to get a D10 w/KLs!) I think I tried a 2000 once (was sunburst.... were they all?) I remember it being so wide
it was an issue for me. From my fading memories of it (at least 30 yrs~ago) I would say it was wider than the 1000! There must be
someone on the forum with one and a tape measure willing to settle this question!

The 2000 was bit wider to compensate for the
additional strings, Yes the 2000 was only available in Sunburst..
I prefered the blonde 1000 with the almag frame. The early model.
Hi Roger. You cn always tell the difference
The 1000 gives the player a Hernia.
The 2000 gives the player a "Double Hernia"

I have an early, blonde 1000 as you described. I've had a metal polisher repolish the frame;___it looks like new. This guitar really stays in tune well; but bad on the G# to A, .0115" string. I use it to play the Ralph Mooney stuff.

Rick,,to my expierience the original 2000 was wider than the 1000,,maybe about 2 inches
overall. This would be a complete re-tooling
to make the 2000 wider.
I had a 2000 which was at least 2 inches in width wider than the 1000...but you may be right...from what I have seen of the 2000 recently they do look liie the same size..
Maybe these old eyes are playing tricks on me
I may have the original specs of the two guitars in question...and I will take a look
If I find the info ,,,I'll shoot it along to you..
Jody PS My checking proved that the 2000 was originally 2" inches wider than the 1000.
Fender (Leo) changed the specs as the re-tooling was costly,,,,in addition to cases having to be re-sized.
So you see,,,I was about 2 inches right,,,and
then you came along and corrected me. Never
too old to learn,,,,,thanks for your comments
appreciate it..man what an inch or two will do.
Be well...
[This message was edited by Jody Carver on 19 April 2002 at 05:38 AM.]

Not with me it isn't Mr. Jody. I posted the question seeking information, you gave it to me, and I believe you. My question, "are you sure?" was to reconfirm your original response.I knew the answer,,,just didnt want to start a war,,,,,thats easy to do on this Forum.
You're a good man,___enjoy you're writing.
