Easy way to lower 6th string a wholetone
I had this same problem once and realized that if I put a small shim (20 gauge sheetmetal) where the changer fingers rest that this would raise the string enough to allow the extra travel neccesary to lower same string a whole step. the only drawback was that when you look at the hex nuts on the changer, bothe the raise and lower fingers of the sixth string will be a little further into the guitar. I hope I made sense as this does work and is easier than extra rods and such. Oh yeah I just epoxyed the shim in place. Good Luck

On my Emmons LeGrande II a few months ago I put the Paul Franklin string #6 to lower clear down to the E note with no trouble at all. Yes I had a considerable more travel on my V lever, but it worked good. It was sorta cool, but I did'nt use it all that much and I was just getting use to it dang it. That same string pulled up a full tone also. Just experminting.
Thanks,
