Mike,

Both of you guys and Tony are so dog gone good all the rest of us are just left behind in the dust.....

Every time Dave hits a new hot lick, that I haven't heard before, it catches my attention and I start stumbling over the words I am supposed to be singing. He's got a whole sack of them licks.... :D

Bobby Black

Post by Kermit Monk »

This is a little off the subject of our jam, but in case some of our Tri-City steel buddies don't know...

Bobby Black is going to be in Pigeon Forge Friday the 24th. He is going to be at the Smokey Mountain Guitar shop at 10 or 11:00 in the morning...with some other western swing pickers...telling stories from the road and showing some of his picking. Then later that afternoon, he will be doing a show, at one of the theaters, with the Saddle Cats. Looks like he is playing a triple neck Fender with the Saddle Cats.

I may go down and check him out. I have more details I can post if anyone is interested.

Hey Kermit, Did you buy the 1966 ZB and if you did are you going to bring to the Jam so we can eyeball it? ;-) :D

Hey Ray,

Somebody beat me to the draw on that one. :(

Those 60's Zane Beck built ZB's go fast when they come up for sale. That was a good price on that particular one also. Evidently, I didn't pull the trigger on it fast enough... Sorry, no eye candy from me.

Steel Jam

Post by Ray Anderson »

Thought for sure you had that one, didn't see anybody in front of you. They never say who buys them , makes me think it a conspiracy: just want rub our noses in it. I wonder if they really sell them. I guess I'm just another paranoid "Hillbilly"

Tony,

Our band is playing the Campbell Ford building the night of the steel jam.

I am going to have to set up our P.A. right after the jam anyway. If it will save you some work, I can set it up that morning and you can use it for the steel jam also.

Just let me know.

Here's directions for everybody. Driving north on I-81, take exit 7, turn left at the bottom of the ramp, turn right at the 2nd traffic light onto Lee Hwy. Go around 1 mile, the Bristol Va-Tn Country Show Palace is on the right. This used to be Campbell Ford car dealership. Driving south on I-81, take exit 7, turn right at the bottom of the ramp, turn right at the 1st traffic light. Looking forward to seeing everybody again. There's a $3.00 donation .

Hey Pete, we're not older, we just have a lot of miles on us. We've been put up wet too many times.
Thanks for helping me with my junk last time.
Looking forward to the 17th - hope we have as many players as we did the last jam.

Hey guys, I spoke with the folks that run the venue today. They told me they will have the concession stand open for the steel jam. They have hot dogs, chips, usually some kind of cake and always coffee.

Mike...we will miss your great playing.

Pete....just drag that pretty LDG in, play us some good tunes and I will be happy to tote the sound equipment.

Also, an update on my playing. I was poking around at Bobbe Seymours last weekend....being a general nuisance...the guys there assured me if I buy one of their 25.00 T-shirts that it would really help my steel playing. I have been wearing it ever night while I practice, but it doesn't seem to be taking effect yet...

Looks like I will be able to make it this time. I may have to leave a little early because our band is playing at Appleby's in Elizabethton that night. Mike, I wish you could be there so I could steal some of your hot licks. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the gang. :)
