Robert, GREAT to have you on the forum! Had the pleasure of catching you & The Family Band with the Blind Boys of Alabama as your front band. I almost feel like The North Mississippi All Stars played the same concert. Anyway, great concert by all!! I was tired from dancing at my seat with everybody else that night ! Look forward to your contributions.

Welcome aboard, Robert!
Finally got to see you live last year, with my wife. She's not used to such concerts (originally from Romania), but she really liked what she heard.
I've enjoyed your work since first hearing LIVE AT THE WETLANDS. Got a real kick hearing you rip off yer country licks! I had the original first cassette of SACRED STEEL and sold from then on.

We do need to keep this one active- I for one want to see Mr. Randolph join in....maybe we need some additional specific questions for him?
I'll add another one-
Robert, how do you keep from getting your steel stuck under the strings when doing the fast runs? I went to an SP2, but it looks like you use the flat ended stevens bar.
Thanks,
Jay.

5 pages of gush with barely 3 questions? Now that's hilarious!
Presuming it's truly you, THE Robert Randolph, it's good to finally have you available. In lieu of the endless controversy your name has conjured up over the years, it'll be great to hear your unique perspectives and ability to set things straight. Welcome aboard.
What's the hardest/best parts of being probably the most scrutinized/critisized/misunderstood yet popular steel player today?

I have spoke with Robert and he is really busy. He was on tour in India, then he's playing in NYC on the 23rd I think, then he is on to Japan. This is one busy guy and I bet he forgot about this post or didn't know where to start. I'll see if he can start posting more. Maybe he can find the time. He told me last he was going to post on a layover he had, but never did I guess. I'm sure he will join us when he can.

The Union
saw Robert on HBO the other night, laying down a track for Elton John and Leon Russell. The show, and the resulting CD is called "The Union". Leon's still got the goods.

Not true. I verified Robert's membership with him on the phone. As Mike Mantey said, Robert is very busy. He's not one of these people who spends all of his free time on the internet.Bob Carlucci wrote:i think we have been scammed....

Robert, it is great to have you with us on the SGF. I'd like to ask you about your tuning on the 13-string purple Fessy. How did you come up with that concept? It sounds like a hybrid combination of C6 and E9, but I'd be interested in hearing from you about how you came up with it if you feel like sharing that. Rock on, brother!
