Love these two! .. of course Paycheck has some truly delightfully weird and dark records to enjoy, as noted by others on this topic.

A good many of us having grown-up up during the cold war era. I really like how the steel adds just the right touch!

Here's one of the "beauties" of the internet. Back around 1995, I did some steel work for Rudi Protrudi, formerly of the Fuzztones, and an album called “White Trash Thing” got recorded, some of which just popped up.

Our version of Psycho, which has been mentioned a couple times:

Most of the covers of "Psycho" appear to be highly influenced by the Jack Kittel version which is certainly the definitive arrangement and performance as opposed to the Eddie Noack version.

I heard a band at Layla's in Nashville do a great song called "Rocky Bottom"

One od my faves is by the Austin Lounge Lizards called "Can I have your stuff when you'e dead?"
Actually, it's probably more funny than creepy except for the line about the teeth.....

Hank Williams

Post by Tony Palmer »

May not be creepy (yeah actually it is) but definitely the saddest song I've ever heard....Hank Williams

"I've Just Told Mama Goodbye"
Each year on Mother's day
The rose I wore was red
But today I'm saying my first prayer
Mama's lying on her dying bed.

I've just told Mama goodbye
Mother's day has turned to night
Like the flowers in May, she withered away
And my red rose is turning white.

This is the dreaded hour
We all must face someday
Yet there's consolation in my heart
She will bloom in the Master's bouquet.

Her time has come to go
And there's nothing I can do
Only hold her hand and say goodbye
Mama's day with her children is through.

I've just told Mama goodbye
And knelt beside her bed
I heard her say, "I'll meet you someday,
Where the white roses turn to red."
