Is it time to change strings?

I have been playing about an hour a day for 3 months on the original nickel strings that came with my Carter. They still seem to sound fine but are showing a little corrosion. Any recommendations on when should I change them?

Also...I have changed lots of strings on my telecaster....are there any special tricks for PSG strings that are different from changing strings on a guitar?

Jim...put on a new set of strings...then you'll notice how dead they are.

Bob is right. There is nothing like fresh strings to remind you how things are supposed to sound.

Pay close attention to the advice on the 3rd string. It will save you from having to ask how come you keep breaking 3rd strings and what kind of antiseptic to use on your hand.

Three months is a long time for strings. Change them.

Jim as you know, The Tele requires more frequent string changes because our sweaty little fingers transfer the sweat and dirt and grime from our fingers to the strings, frets and neck. In many cases, ( me for example ) I don't play my Tele' with picks so I am beatin' up the strings at both ends. The Steel is a lot more forgiving ( not the .011)
as the strings just sorta die a slow tone death. 3 months, I'd go ahead and change them like the other players suggested.

I should have added that not only will a new set of strings show you how dead the old ones are...but it will also take care of that out of tune problem you should be having after 3 months.
