Hey Zane, I have always loved your steel playing and this song is nothing short of amazing. I have had it stuck in my head for a while now. I really like the idea of you recording your own material and this one is over the top. I think it really shows what happens when you combine a great steel player, great song and a great guitar. Keep up the good work, the steel community needs more people like you!

Hard to pick

Post by Donna King »

It's too difficult to pick a favorite but this one is in the running...It is an immaculately written melody and then, the same man who wrote it, played it even better.... :-) I think everyone is going to just LOVE this song and the whole recording too.

Hey zane!
What do you use to record? Mac? Pc? What are the specs of your setup. THanks

Thank y'all for taking time to listen to this preview song from my new CD. I appreciate the kind comments.

Storm R. - the "stratosteel" is not on this recording. I do plan on introducing more of the Pedal Guitar in the near future. Right now, it was more important to me to establish some new music with just the steel guitar. Seriously, this recording is entirely pedal steel guitar. I think there are like 2 piano intros and 1 piano turnaround. Everything else is led by the pedal steel! :D :D

Jeff,

On this song, all of the backing tracks were recorded with a band in a tracking studio here in Nashville. I do have my own recording setup for overdub use. I use Mac / Protools. That is pretty standard around here. Just so you know, I do use an amp to record the steel. On this recording it is just microphone on my amp. Goes in fairly simple. Mix engineer then added effects and a bunch of other stuff for that matter.
