The Return

Post by Michael Scott »

SteelRadio Fans,

The requests for my broadcast returning...are overwhelming. I have given these requests a lot of thought and have decided to bring SteelRadio back to the Internet. Starting Monday, February 6th, I will have the steel guitar music you love running twenty-four hours a day. Our live DJ shows will be returning and new shows added. I will post their schedules within my web site and right here on the Steel Guitar Forum as soon as possible.

As we all know, there are very few completely “American In Origin” musical instruments. The ones that come to mind are the banjo and the steel guitar. With a database of over 11,000 tracks (and growing), I have the resources to introduce our newest heroes while keeping the history of the steel guitar alive for future generations.

Please help spread the word...SteelRadio is back!

Sincerely,
Michael Scott

Ok, here it goes. My broadcast starts at 12 midnight St. Louis time. You can tune in using my original connection http://steelradio.serverroom.us:8300 . WinAmp is still a free download and can be found on their web site…www.winamp.com. Just copy and paste or type the link above in the “Play Location” option under the Play pull down menu. You can also listen on many other mediums as well as your smart phone.

Larry asked for my mailing address for his donation. If anyone else would like to make a donation, please snail mail it to:

SteelRadio.com
9535 Midland Blvd.
St. Louis, MO. 63114-3314
Or you can donate via PayPal at steelradio@scottysmusic.com. Using either snail mail or PayPal will be greatly appreciated.

I know it will take some time to get back to full broadcast strength. My studio is being rebuilt and reorganized and my DJs will be back as soon as possible. I also plan to air some new live music remotely. I plan to update my web site with all connection information and DJ schedules as soon as possible.

I also know some of my listeners will not care for every track I have in rotation. But do not let a few tracks deter you from tuning on for the best in steel guitar broadcasting from around the world. All forms of steel guitar music is played and I believe that every musician has the chance to have their material heard. If you missed the kick off with Buddy Emmons’ rendition of “Blue Jade”, you will get another chance to hear it.

Thank you all for your support and for giving me the confidence to bring SteelRadio back to the Internet.

I'm listening now!! First time since you went "back on the air." Just like old times, thank you Michael! I've had such a busy week, didn't have a chance to tune-in until just now, same link, same player!

Planning to send a $$ contribution once my next paycheck hits the bank.

So glad Steel Radio is broadcasting again!

Thank you Ted, I appreciate your support. I’m glad I was able to get SteelRadio back on the air in time for your birthday. I hope your fundraiser did well. I look forward to getting together with you in Dallas.

Some donations have been coming in and I appreciate every one of them. SteelRadio needs more to stay on the air. I plan to add more live broadcasts in the near future. As before, you never know when I will be airing some of the top pickers from St. Louis and surrounding areas so it would be a good idea to stay tuned. Miss Lana and I are working on getting venues and bands lined up.

I’m still locking down our regular live DJ shows and will post their schedules as soon as possible.

In Memory Of

Post by Evelyn Simmons »

Michael, been thinking a lot about Steel Radio. Was wondering if perhaps we could start a new thing. Sort of donations In Memory Of individuals. Maybe ever so often and not just a one deal thing. Maybe perhaps on their birthdays or the day of their passing. I sent my donation and at the time I was thinking.....I'm doing this because of Bobby. just a thought but reading the forum made me sad with so many of our "greats" being in trouble etc. You keep so many Memories Alive through playing the music of so many of our friends and "family".

Steel Radio Subscription

Post by Don Lanier »

I think you should set up a online payment center using paypal or another nationally accreditted payment processor, and give people options of subscribing, or Yearly, Bi Annually, Monthly subscriptions, and do a campaign to let people know about this, WHY and what will happen if you cant make a success of it, I think it would be a great loss to lose steel radio....Model it after a Sat Radio subscription, allow Steel shows to be broadcast for a price, and comply with Sesac, BMI etc...but also sell commercials, I think there are National corporations that would advertise such as Pizza, Hotels, Musical Instruments, Rental cars, possibly even Reality companies, restaurants, etc...possibly a collection could be taken up to preserve and Improve it at the larger shows, after all it DOES benefit anyone who is a player, Teacher, Student or casual listener.
