I've heard about Joe's cat rest option, but have never seen it. Pretty cool!

Just my opinion, but the Roc & Soc seems a bit pricey for a drum stool ...

steelseats

Post by Joe Naylor »

Roger the cat option came from W.C. (the founder of steelseat.com)- he had only one request when I bought the company from Thom and that was to leave the cat on the web site. I think he said that it was his favorite cat and it had passed away. So, the cat option is no longer available but the idea of not tipping over on the Original model still holds. :D
You need to look over my web site and see those kind of options. :whoa:

Now down to business, Gary I have sent you an email regarding your question.

My intent when I started a couple years ago to make the adjustable height seat was to be able to retro fit all steelseats. However, I could not find the hardware to do that - I am still looking and Friday ordered more samples from 2 additional companies to still do just that. (stay tuned for that)

I had to redo the legs and to this point the adjustable legs are special legs to allow them to fold up under the seat.

I started this because of a BIG deal on the forum. None of those people have ordered them - I have sold about 6 sets total in over 2 years.

I am happy to offer them and am still trying find hardware to retro fit them to all steelseats.

Have you checked out the "Stage One" keyboard seats? I use one and it is very nice, and folds up real easy. The legs are a Xshape, with 3 holes on each side, so you can adjust it to whatever you want. Mine is about 2' long, and about 14" wide, witha 3" foam pad for comfort. Think I paid about $40 for mine.

Roc N Soc

Post by Ben Turner »

I started out years ago using a homemade seat that my dad used for years and eventually upgraded to a Steelers Choice seat, I've also had a couple other seats including an old Sho Bud and an Elite Seat. I used that style seat for about 14 years until I sat on a drum throne at a practice session one evening. I went home and ordered a ROC N SOC with the hydraulic lift and back rest and have never had any regrets at all. Been using the ROC N SOC for about 3 years now and if anything ever happens to it I'll be buying another one. I carry my stuff in a small tool box which also works as a riser for my RV7 so I can reach it better. I actually like the fact that it swivels, I feel like I can get to the knees a lot easier and sort of dig in. Try one out, you never know!

I've used a Roc n Soc for many years. Love it, and the only movement I'm aware of in the seat while playing is advantageous, in allowing me to shift just enough to make some lever/pedal moves more comfortable. Works for me.

I too use a roc & soc drum throne with a back and lockable. I have not been sorry that I have gotten it. It's very comfortable and I don't feel any back fatigue after sitting and playing for awhile.

Roc n Soc

I've had my Roc n Soc stool from the get-go. For a beginner, it was, and is a great way to find your comfort zone behind the steel. Highth and knee lever access. It's very adjustable and comfortable. Mine is a simple seat only. No back support. I recommend it.

I just had a new customer call today and order a seat with adjustable height legs.

Hope to have a swivel seat to take to Dallas.

I have recently sold seats for Bass & Guitar players. One of the orders for a guitar player that plays gigs by himself and wants it for CD's that he stores plus a processor. Different dividers inside but standard other than that. Now sold some to keyboard players.

Plus we have the sewing / craft seats that are even used as office chairs.

steelseats just are not for steel players any more.

Lots of option make them useable for many uses.
