What thread should I use to rethread a msa rod? & is this ros a 3/16 ??

If you're talking about the pedal rods, they are 3/16" rod and are threaded 10-32.

If you're talking about the pull rods underneath the guitar, they are 1/8" and are threaded 5-40 from the factory. That thread is almost impossible to do by hand though, and I have had good luck using 6-32 thread. The rods will cut their own thread in the nylon tuning nuts anyway, so the thread doesn't really matter.

I've found the best way to thread the pull rods is to, first, make sure you buy a good quality threading die. Then don't try to crank it too tight in the handle. Use cutting oil, WD40, 3-in-1 oil, or some other light lubricant to help the cutting process. The rods are usually made of stainless steel which is pretty hard stuff.
