Just FMI,why is a fourth pedal sometimes referred to as (0),I was of the assumption it was a "Franklin pedal" that lowers 5-6-10. |

There are many different designations for certain pedals or knee levers. e.g. Jeff Newman had his naming convention, others have different designations for the same thing.
For those that have the Franklin Pedal, Some have it on the first pedal (0 pedal?) others have it like Franklin on the 4th pedal. |

Like Jack said, that easy unless of course you have the changes split on knee levers as well |

OK,so it's up too the player to give his 4th pedal a name be it whatever as long as he knows the meaning,ok, thanks,& when I get mine installed I think I'll name it Sally!!!Or "S" but I'll be the only one that knows the meaning, unless I tell somebody then they'll know ,decisions, decisions. |

My pedal 0 raises 1&2
It's only called Zero because it sits to the left of A. I think if I were to put a Franklin Drop, I'd put it as a P5. That raise gets used in conjunction/sequence with A so often, it makes sense to put it left of A. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

That makes sense but I already raise 1(G#)&7(to G) with RKR & raise 2 with RKL as well as lower 6,I was lowering 9 on RKL but I don't use it much so I just backed the tuning nut off so it wouldn't engage the 9th string.I'm going to put the 4th pedal on at some time in the near future. |

If you have a pedal that sets to the left of your standard ABC pedals, it's the 0 pedal. If the pedal sets to the right of the ABC pedals it's pedal 4. It is confusing because most players refer to the pedals in alpha terms, and because of that the knee levers were given the subsequent alpha I.D.s. Also to confuse things, the 0 pedal, or 4 pedal doesn't necessarily have to drop 5,6, and 10, it could do any add-on move you want that isn't in the standard ABC pedal config. Some people refer to their pedals/levers in numeric fashion, but that will confuse most people who use the alpha when your talking about pedal/lever issues. It gets worse. The verticle knee lever is called the X lever. And when it really gets interesting is if you have multiple knee levers for each L knee and R knee. If you have a D10, then the C6 pedals are numeral. I lost you @"If",just kidding, yes I understand the concept, just a bit cornfused on the "0" vs the "4"or Franklin. Now I know...............I think!David Hartley has (on some of his Rains') 5 pedals but I don't remember the set-up but I don't think he lowers 5-6-10 but maybe he does,I forget & I'm too lazy to go to Gary's website to check it out.
OK,I got off my duff & chk'd. Mr Hartley's copedent on the 5 pedals & yes he does lower 5-6-10 but on pedal 5. |
