Jim was great and so was Ray. If you get a chance to see him, go do it. I was invited yesterday and accepted, thanks James Harvey, what a singer Ray sounds great. I saw Ray about 10 years ago and I think he sounded better last night than then. Talk about twin fiddles he had a symphony, Bobby Flores was one, I’m sorry I don’t remember the others. Bobby and the whole group sounded great. Afterwards Ray was honored for his 86th. I got to visit with Jim for a while, very nice gentleman. _________________ Zum D10 |

Mike
Don't know, I could only see three quarters of him from the curtain in front of the stage. He was playing an Emmons and I thought he was playing on a Peavey, but not sure.
Sorry

Hello,
In case anyone cares I was playing the Peavey at the Stafford center. I had five jobs in Houston last week and didn't want to have to unload the Standel every time I did one of those other gigs. And, the Stafford stage is large and one of the only places Ray lets us get away with playing fairly loud. The Standel would have broken up very much at that volume.
Thanks for the kind words everybody!
Best,
Jim |

Hi Jerry,
The Standel is a Custom (hybrid) and the best guess on the year is 1963.
I also have a Super Custom XV which is all solid state that I can't get to sound the way I want. Sooner or later I will have the amp guy look at it.
Best,
Jim |

Jim, I have a 63 Custom Hybrid that I bought new. It went on the blink years ago and I sold it, it was repaired and I bought it back on eBay. The repair made it work but it is not right. I would love to get it working like it is supposed to. It lights up and comes on sounding fine for about 5 minutes then starts getting "fluttery". I need info for the guy in California to see if I can get him to fix it for me. One module was repaired with some components wired in on the outside. I have another chassis that doesn't work that might could be used for parts to get mine going. If you have info where I might get it fixed right please let me know.

Hi Jerry,
Billy Horton, 512 912-0470, worked on my Standel and it sounds great.
He is located in Central Texas -- if you want to get that adventuresome with shipping costs.
Good luck,
Jim |
