Leo LeBlanc Youtube tribute

Hi,

I've been creating some videos this week on youtube for those who'd like to hear/remember Leo's less known or unknown recordings.

All of the songs in these two clips were played on his custom Endicott double-neck...which was a rickety ride to play, it personally amazes me what he was able to do on that steel.

I plan on doing a couple more of these to include stuff he did later...we'll see.

Wow, Leo LeBlanc!
All I knew of him was that he played on (at least the first) John Prine record in the early '70s. I was just barely starting on Hawaiian steel then, and really liked his sound.

He was on the first 6 John Prine albums.

I'd love to release a collection of my dad's best work but not only do I not own the rights to most of it but it would also be a very difficult task.

For now, I'll upload what I can get away with to Youtube and/or LeoLeBlanc.us

Yes, I remember Leo LeBlanc very well too and admired his playing. A father to be proud of I would say.

Leo's intro & backup on John Prine's "Your flag decal won't get you into heaven anymore" was one of the very first things I ever learned to play on my little 3+1 pedal steel back in 1977. Great tone!

Count me as a fan of your dad. I really like his playing with Red Simpson, as well as Prine and Jerry Jeff.

Leo LeBlanc playing "Hong Kong Hillbilly". Clarence White recorded it as a single then later recorded it as "Nashville West". Not sure which came first. Did Leo write it? (interesting side note: I believe Clarence's real name was LeBlanc later changed to White --- he was French Canadian)
