Central New York steelers?
I live in the finger lakes region of central New York, and am looking for any steel players in my area that might be able to share some teaching time to help me progress a little more as a player. Anyone close by that might be on this forum? Thanks, Bill

William, I am not real close, but I do teach. I live in Walton, NY, Delaware County, east of Binghamton,
south of Oneonta. I am in my music store Monday to Friday, 9 to 5:30. Make a day trip to my store, arrive early and spend a few hours with me. I'll give you lots of things to work on and think about...

Central NY Steelers
Hi All, I was born in Caledonia NY. And growing up, there was a great steel player. He was with the Don and Tony show and played all around western and central NY in the 70's Do any of you know him? Is he still picking? Larry

There is an older gentleman by the name of Stan Fish
who was a big time steel player back in the day. He worked radio shows and traveled with various artists in the area, and did some recoding. He still lives in
Oneonta, NY but is in poor health and does not play
out. He attended a dance we played at the Elks in
Oneonta about two weeks ago and we talked quite a bit
about the old days. I offered to let him sit in on my
steel but he declined. I noticed that his hand shook
all the time when he held his coffee cup, so he may
not have good bar control anymore. I know he still
has an Emmons double ten and plays it in his home.

Don & Tony Show
Larry Johnson.. I remember your name aroud Rochester.. You had a great player reputation way back then.I too grew up and played around there way back in the 1970's.. I remember the Don & Tony Show .. Could it have been Skip Perkins on steel ..He played a double 12 MSA.. Little guy dont know how he carried it.. Then there was Danny Hart who played steel with Dave Donnaly and Pickard brothers. I forget who played steel with the All niters but coulda been that guy..Gosh so hard to recall all the names back then..
